Outlaw Cadet Special, Super Late Model Qualifier and a Demo Derby this Weekend at Stateline SpeedwayBy Glenn Slocum
Busti, NY: The Outlaw Cadet Special, Craiger Race Engines Super Late Model Qualifier and Labor Day Demolition Derby are all on tap for this holiday weekend at Stateline Speedway. Saturday the Finn’s Auto Sales and Service and Magnum Graphics sponsored Outlaw Cadet Special will pay $500 to the winner and a bonus for every lap led. The race was scheduled for two weeks ago but Mother Nature had other ideas. Russell PA’s Kelly Frederes has dominated the division this season and is favored to win the Special. Steve Moynihan, Jamestown NY, trails Frederes by 292 points and last years champ Mike Moore is 404 points behind the leader. Also on Saturday the Super Late Models will vie for a qualifying spot in the upcoming September Spectacular. The race is sponsored by Craiger Race Engines. Chris Hackett, Corry PA, is atop the Super Late standings with a 322 point advantage over Wattsburg PA’s Scott Johnson. Hackett is on track to win his first Super Late Championship at Stateline. Bear Lake PA’s Scott Gurdak is third with Lakewood NY’s John Volpe fourth and Centerville PA’s Darrell Bossard fifth. Saturday’s events will be followed by the traditional Labor Day Demolition Derby sponsored by Brian Horner’s Stateline Auto Parts. The Monday afternoon event will start promptly at 1:00 PM. .Gates open on Saturday at 5:30 PM with racing starting promptly at 7:00 PM. General admission adults $9.00, seniors $8.00, kids 6-15 $5.00 and kids 5 and under free. On Monday the gates will open at 11:00 AM and the derby will start at 1:00 PM.
