Expo Speedway, at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds near Warren, OH ran weekly in the early '80s, ceasing weekly racing after the 1983 season.  Now there is a two day set of races during the Trumbull County Fair.  On June 29, the FASTRAK "Cross the Borders" Speedweek by Bully Dog ran the huge 5/8 mile oval with the E-Mods in a supporting role.  Raceway Magazine was in attendance with Jay Pees filing the below photos.

 

George Kowatic drew the pole for the feature led the first 13 laps but cut a tire when Russell King made contact, ending the evening in 21st.

 

South Carolina's Chris Steele was eighth driving Josh Holtgraver's 'back-up' car.

 

Second generation rising star Kyle Zimmerman wound up twelfth after looking strong early in the evening.

 

Alan Dellinger was looking strong as usual, winning his heat (shown here taking the checkers) but dropped out of the feature with mechanical ailments, finally credited with 22nd.

 

Lauren Longbrake ran steady and finished 17th.

 

Here the veteran Bill Cunningham in 59 gets by the young 14 year old Clay Ruffo.  Cunningham managed a 16th in the final rundown but Ruffo wound up last, 24th.

 

 

Max Blair, who has dominated the FASTRAK Northeast Tour over the past three years, was second after winning his heat.  Blair's second was the first time he has been defeated at Expo in three attempts.

 

Brian Lessley experienced problems in his heat and did not even start the B-Main.

 

Chad Wright, a recent winner at Sharon Speedway, drove to a 15th place finish.

 

Butch Lambert won his heat and then went on to finish 10th in the feature.

 

Tyler Barris slammed the wall hard during heat action in turn one just before the pit entrance.  He was unable to start the B-Main.

Young guns Clay Ruffo and Bobby Rohrer Jr (son of Eriez Speedway Promoter Bobby Rohrer) race towards turn one.

 

Wayne Robertson made the tow all the way from Corning New York and was rewarded with 5th at the end of the 30 lapper.  Robertson is getting married this weekend.

 

Josh Holtgraver, a winner on the FASTRAK Northeast Tour had an unsatisfying night finishing 11th.

 

Joe Martin, a multiple winner at Sharon Speedway in 2011, finished 23rd after dropping out early in the event.

 

"Half Pint" Damien Bidwell drove his mount to 13th.

 

John Volpe piloted the B1D car to a respectable third spot in the final rundown.

 

McKean County and Little Valley standout Steve Dixon raced to seventh place at the checkers.

 

Dan Angelicchio ran a smooth race and finished fourth.

 

Mike Pegher Jr  in the Lynn Geisler owned car, drove to a sixth.

Dwayne Clay drove to sixth in the E-Mod feature.

 

Mike Potosky was 3rd when the checkers flew in the E-Mod finale.

 

Rich Michael, veteran on the McKean-Little Valley area, led early but wound up second at the end.

 

Jeff Johnson led until the final lap of his heat race, but was penalized by the double-file restart, allowing Joel Watson to get by on the final restart.

 

Last year's winner, Brian Douglas, was involved in a wreck during the feature, finally was credited with ninth.

 

Kari Gasser won her heat race then went on to finish 5th in the A-Main.
