Troutman seizes second win at The Rock

June 26, 2010

CUMBERLAND, Md. – D.J. Troutman picked up his second win of the season
by dominating the Limited Late Model feature on Saturday at The Rock,
Allegany County Speedway.

The Street Stock feature went to Mike Desch while Marcius VanMeter won
the Hobby Stock race. The Factory Stock races went to Jason Thompson
and Elwood Hyre.

In the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, Troutman asserted himself
early by getting the lead away from pole-sitter Travis Calhoun on the
second lap. The race went caution free and Troutman built an
insurmountable lead of over five seconds by the finish.

Matt Cosner had a season-high, second-place finish after getting
second on lap four but was well out of sight of Troutman by lap eight.
Matt Sponaugle finished third.

Doug Timmons picked up fourth with four laps to go ahead of Matt Howsare.

Desch took the lead with two laps remaining to win the 16-lap Street
Stock feature over John Whitfield. The win was Desch’s fourth this
season.

Whitfield took the lead from Daryl Whetstone on the second lap while
Desch made the pass to second over Whetstone on the fourth lap. With
two laps remaining, Desch moved to the inside of Whitfield in turn two
and came away with the lead headed for turn three.

Bob Jay, who started 11th, was third while Whetstone ended up fourth
and Chris Chamberlain was fifth.

VanMeter led all 15 laps for his second Hobby Stock win and became the
first driver to get a repeat victory this season. Justin Michael ended
up six car lengths short at the finish.

VanMeter saw his lead shrink to just two car lengths after the halfway
point as Michael, who had taken second earlier on lap two, made up
nearly 1.5 seconds. Michael’s runner-up finish was his second
straight.

Bill VanMeter was third with Bryan Morris and Jarrod Brown completing
the top five.

Thompson came from the seventh position to win his second-straight
4-Cylinder feature. Thompson took the lead in turn two with one lap to
go over Steve Riggleman and went on to win by several car lengths.

Behind Riggleman, Brandon Inglish finished a season-high third. Kevin
Beers and Mike Lewis completed the top five.

Hyre won by holding off Joe Rodgers at the finish line in the 12-lap,
6/8 Cylinder feature event. Hyre, who started fifth, took the lead
from pole-sitter Jason Stoner on lap seven.

Hyre was chased by Rodgers to the finish line and held him off when
the two made contact coming to the flag stand. Jamie Mills was third,
followed by Stoner and Brian Ringer.

Johnda Michaels won the Powder Puff over Heather Iski. Christina
Deremer was third over Corina Mills and Carrie Proctor.

The next race at The Rock will be Sat., July 10.
