Marion Center Speedway’s 45’Th Season- July 3, 2010

Marion Center Speedway’s Independence Day Celebration Saturday night included racing and fireworks by the Starfire
Corporation. Dave Blazavich from Marion Center put the ooh’s and aaaah’s in the Lias Tire Latemodel division feature.
Blazavich started third but took the lead for the first six laps around the quarter-mile clay oval. Then pole position driver,
Clate Copeman from Greensburg took over the lead for the next nine laps. But then Bang! Blazavich was back in the lead and
held the front position for the remaining five laps for the win. Copeman took a close second place finish and Sammy Stile from
Charleroi was third. Wally Fox finished fourth while newcomer to the track, Garrett Krummert of New Castle filled in fifth.
Matt Gaston was sixth then came Jerry Redden, Rick Davis, Will Cochran, Ken Schaltenbrand, Paul Michny, Dane Laraway,
John Myers, Mike Sgro, John Poling and Rod Phillips. The Lias Tire Latemodel heat races were won by Clate Copeman and
Rick Davis.

Jeff Taylor from Corsica exploded on the track Saturday night in the W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stock feature. Taylor
started on the outside pole and led every lap to take home the victory. With several restarts from cautions on the track, the
opportunity was there for Jim Boyer of Indiana to take the lead, but Taylor was in charge of this race and stayed up front the
whole time. Boyer took second and Corey Neal from Trade City was third. Fourth place went to Eric Lingenfelter from
Creekside and Ray Hickok, Jr. of Commodore was fifth. Jason Fosnaught finished sixth and he was followed by Tim Adamson,
Jim Fosnaught, Rich Howell and Tim White. Randy Reitz and Tim White won the W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stock heat
races.

Cheyenne Reed of Punxsutawney made his way to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle in the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic
Limited Latemodel feature by rocketing into the lead for the last seven laps of the main event. Reed started tenth but making his
way to sixth place for the first lap, he was charged with a caution after spinning on the track. This put Reed in last place of the
seventeen-car field for the restart. Cheyenne Reed then shot through the pack of cars making his way towards the front. In lap
eight, Scott Alvetro spun out and brought the yellow flag out on the track. Alvetro took exception to the way Reed was pushing
his way through the field of cars and evidently blamed Reed for his spinout. While still under caution, Alvetro deliberately drives
his car into Reed’s. Alvetro was immediately told to get off the track and was disqualified from the feature. Track officials
looked at Reed’s car to assess the damage but Reed stayed on the track and kept his position, which at that time was fifth.
When the racing continued, so did Reed’s charge to the front and by the fourteenth out of twenty laps, Cheyenne Reed was in
the lead. Reed claimed the checkered flag and Rod Phillips also of Punxsutawney who had started in fourteenth place, finished
second. Third place went to Chad Helman of Indiana who started on the pole and led the first thirteen laps of the race. Jeff
Weakland took fourth and Rich Logan was fifth. Sixth through tenth places were awarded to Scott Stein, Andrew Satterlee,
Bobby Watt, Terry Rayko, and Mike Laughard. Rod Phillips and Scott Stein won the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Limited
Latemodel heat races.

Mike’s Auto and Towing Strictly Stock feature was won by Brett Bingaman of Cherry Tree. Bingaman took off like a rocket
to get in to the lead from his fifth position start by lap five. Billy Mumau from Rossiter started on the pole and led the first four
laps. Then Bingaman blew by him to take over the lead for the rest of the race. Bingaman also had pressure from Steve Matko
coming up from ninth place to challenge Bingaman at the end, but Matko took second and Matthew Eiselman from Ernest took
third place. Denny Smith of Glen Campbell was fourth and Kylie Hamilton from Rosebud finished fifth. In sixth place was Bob
Geer, Jr. and the rest of the top ten included Bryant Small, Travis Brady, Charlie Boring and Robin Welsh. The Mike’s Auto
and Towing Strictly Stock heat races were won by Greg Buterbaugh and Nate Smith.

In The Today’s Hot Country, Q-102 Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinder Riceburners’ feature, Joe Petyak from Gallitzin brought
the field of cars onto the track and led them for the first couple laps then Adam Pletcher from Tire Hill whizzed by him in a flash
and took the lead. Pletcher was able to keep Petyak behind him for the rest of the race fizzling out Petyak’s hope for the
victory. Pletcher took the checkers with Petyak in second and Larry Depp, Jr. from Punxsutawney in third. Fourth place went
to Donny Lechak of Johnstown and Jon Lee from Mahaffey was fifth. Shawn Hadden took sixth place and was followed by
Bob Pease, Robert Lydic, Craig Decker, and David Buterbaugh for the top ten. Petyak and Pletcher each were winners in the
Q-102, 4 Cylinder heat races.

The Independence Day Special was a success at Marion Center Speedway. It’s a crowd favorite with racing and fireworks by
the Starfire Corp. to thrill the fans as part of the Independence Day weekend celebration. Also on tap in the near future are
Fan Appreciation Night, Q-102 Nite, and Lias Tire Night at the track with another scheduled round of Kid’s Bike Races this
month.

Marion Center Speedway would like to thank some of its sponsors this season including Lias Tire –Latemodels, Hoosier Tire
Mid-Atlantic Limited Latemodels, Q-102 Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinder Rice Burners, W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street
Stocks and the newly sponsored Strictly Stocks by Mike’s Auto and Towing from Clymer. Also thanks to Butler Auto Supply
of Indiana and the Indiana McDonalds and Route 22 Resort Plaza McDonalds restaurant in Blairsville for their support.

Coal Country Championship Late Model Series so Latemodel drivers can once again go for some big cash money by winning
races at both tracks. Be sure to check out our website at www.marioncenterspeedway.com for other news and racing
