Delmas Dominates again! Sauder Saunters to NRA
win; Sanders, Hensley, Gray grab support wins! By Scott Wolfe CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-Kyle Sauder, Archibald, Ohio made it two-for-two in his appearances at K-C Raceway as he blasted the Dave Jessop AAA #7 into victory lane for the second time this season in the NRA 360 Sprint Invader series. Veteran Delmas Conley, Wheelersburg, Ohio made it number 739 as he again proved that he is one of the 'All-Time Greats' of dirt-track auto racing. Conley put the Conley Trucking #71 in victory lane for the AMRA Late Models, while Rick Hensley, Oak Hill, OH bested the AMRA Modifieds, and Bruce Gray, Jr., Chillicothe, OH taxied home the win in the Dan Reno Hobby Stocks. Kyle Sauder led all 25 laps of the NRA Sprint Invader main, however, in the early going Butch Schroeder and Ron Blair gave the fans their money's worth with a gaggle of breath-taking passes in a fight for second. For nearly ten laps the duo blasted around the 3/8 mile high-banked oval, trading slide jobs and cross-over moves, while Sauder distanced himself from the field in a dominant fashion. Finally, by lap 15 Blair took control of second only to have adversity strike when his rim-riding precision ended a nano-second off with a hard smack into the turn three wall. Blair flipped several ties before landing upright and collecting Jesse McCreary and another car in the melee. Mike Dussell and Kent Wolters had a similar battle for third with Dussell winning the battle at the end behind Sauder and Schroeder. Behind Wolters and rounding out the top ten were Jared Horstman, Hud Horton, Dennis Yoakam, Tim Stewart, Tim Hunter, Todd Heuerman, Dallas Hewitt, Tim Allison, and Luke Hall. In the AMRA Late Model Main veteran Delmas Conley blasted into the lead over pole-sitter Keith Berner and never looked back in the 25-lap affair. By the 12th circuit Conley begin to lap traffic and easily outdistanced himself from the rest of the field. After a bout with an infield uke tire in the dash Greggie Oliver came on strong for hard charger honors from a6th to third. Berner closed the door on Oliver's advancement as Berner posted another good run on the K-C High-banks. After an early battle with Barry Doss, Rod Conley settled into fourth place and tried to reclaim third from the high-flying Oliver. Rounding out the top ten behind Conley, Berner, and Oliver were Rod Conley, Barry Doss, Mark Frazier, Andy Bond, Dylan Huron, Audie Swartz, and Scott Wolfe. Bob Crace, Jr. got the jump on outside pole-sitter Sean Schobelock to lead the first lap of the AMRA Advanced Services Modified main before Rick Hensley took over on the second go-round and led the duration of the race. Schobelock tried Hensley at various points in the race, but had to settle for second after a great run. The Hard Charger award was shared by Tim Tribby 13th to 7th along with Kenny Johnson who charged from 17th to 11th after winning the B-main. A lot of close action took place back in the pack. Luke and Adam Jordon fought hard for third, while Crace, Whiteman, and Montgomery all fought hard for position in addition to trying to stop the charges of Tribby. Rounding out the top ten were Hensley, Sean Schobelock, Luke Jordon, Adam Jordan, Bob Crace, Jr., Brian Whiteman, Tim Tribby, Jason Montgomery, Joe Hamon, and David 'Fireball' Pinkerton. Brandon Thompson and Jamie Adams fought hard for the first seven laps of the Dan Reno Hobby Stock main. The side by side battle saw Thompson on the low-side trying to get a run on the high-flyer Adams. Adams gradually padded his lead, but saw misfortune when his steering box locked up and he set sail into the turn four wall. The accident ended a five-race win streak. Thompson took over for two circuits only to lose an engine. Gray inherited the lead and the defending champ saw cash at the end of the rainbow in holding off the late race charges of Tommy Mossbarger and Brandon Mather. Keith Dubois appeared to have third well in hand until he lost a rear-end on the final circuit. Rounding out the top ten behind Gray Jr. were Mossbarger, Mather, Tracey Ross, Keith Dubois, Roger Mossbarger, Joe Williams, Tim Cutler, Mike Brust, Richard Trego, and Joe Buskirk. Rod Sanders has raced just twice this season, but the second go-round was well-worth it as he put his #52 in victory lane over a field of hard AMSA hard-chargers in mini-sprint division. Rounding out the top ten were Sanders, Jeff Barnhart, Ben Murphy, Matt Hollie, Doug Norris, Mike Kiser, Rod Hemming, Ryan Broughton, Justin Phillips, Brian Stewart, and Kevin Roberts,Jr. In preparation for two of the year's biggest events, and events ranked highly nationally, Schrader's K-C Raceway will sit idle this Saturday, July 17. The speedway will re-open Saturday, July 24th with "Fan Appreciation Night" with a $5 admission for rights to see the fabulous "Tecumseh 30". July 31, the USAC sprint cars will make their first appearance in nearly 15 years in the annual running of the Freedom 40. Joining in for Fan Appreciation Night (July 24) will be the Tomahawk 20 for AMRA Modifieds, one of two AMRA modified features that evening, and the Broken Arrow 18 for Hobby Stocks.
