Hackett takes Super Late Model feature at Eriez; Chris McGuire gets first-ever win!

Hammet, PA (July 18, 2010): Second-generation driver Chris McGuire got his first-ever feature win while with rest of the features went to Victory Lane veterans.  Chris Hackett and Dave Hess Jr each drove to their second wins of the season. Ben Burgess Jr made winning look easy as he drove to his seventh win of year. Greg Fenno got made it three for the season and Josh Hebner continued his domination of his class with win number five.

26 Jay?s Auto Wrecking Super Late Models roared to life when Spanky Hall dropped the green flag with Bruce Hordusky and Chris Hackett leading the charge. Hackett, coming off a win at Stateline, blasted out to the lead with Hordusky falling into second.  The race went green until Dennis Lunger spun in turn one with Ryan Scott and John Volpe spinning to avoid the wreck. All were able to continue. By halfway, Hackett had a big lead but was in heavy traffic with Hordusky second and Andy Boozel third. The race went green until lap 21 when Bob Dorman slammed the front straight wall, ending his night.  With a single file restart for the final five laps the lineup was Hackett, Hordusky, Boozel, Dutch Davies, Dick Barton, and World of Outlaws regular Russ King, in a shake-down run to prepare for the Rohrer Trucking World of Outlaws event coming August 1, paying $10,000 to win.  Hackett went on to the win, followed by Hordusky, Boozel, Davies, and King.  With the win, and Bump Hedman finishing seventh, Hackett will take the point?s lead.

Greg Johnson and Mike Knight were the front row for the 24-car field of Plyler Overhead Door E-Mods with Knight taking the immediate lead.  Chuck Steinle Sr got into the infield at turn one on lap two, splashing water onto the track with the result of several cars losing traction in the turn and spinning or piling into spun cars.  Dave Hess Jr began hounding Knight for the lead at the end of lap two, pulling next to the leader in every turn.  The momentum of the high side kept Knight at the front until Hess appropriated the high side and went by in turn two on lap ten just as Ron Seeley spun at the end of the front straight, putting Knight back to he lead with the cars lined up according to the last completed lap.  So at the halfway point Knight was the leader with Hess second, Greg Johnson third, Rich Gardner fourth, and John Boyd fifth. Again after green it was Knight using the momentum of the high side to maintain his lead over Hess with Johnson third. At the end of lap 16, Hess managed to get by Knight and handily led the remaining laps for his second win of the season, extending his point?s lead over Knight.  Johnson was third with John Boyd very narrowly edging Rich Gardner for fourth.

17 cars took the green for the Boardwalk Bar and Grill Limited Late Model feature with pole-sitter Chad Carlson jumping to the lead at the start.  Steve ?Kid? Kania threw the right front wheel from his mount in turn four, coming to a halt. On the first lap after green, Bobby Rohrer spun in turn three, collecting Tyler Green.  During the caution period, Kania rejoined the field, without losing a lap!  At the front, Carlson was extending his lead over Mike Lozowski and Chris McGuire with Wade Slaney fourth.  By the halfway point Lozowski had started catching Carlson in traffic but Carlson was able to open a lead when he got to open track.  Kevin King spun in front of Carlson coming out of turn four at lap 13, getting hit first by the leader, and then hit hard by second-running Lozowski, flipping him onto his roof.  King was towed from the scene but Lozowski, with heavy body damage was able to continue.  During the pace laps for the restart Carlson pitted, giving up the lead.  Chris McGuire inherited the lead with Wade Slaney coming to second with six laps left.  McGuire drove a near-perfect line for the remaining laps to win his first feature ever.  Slaney was second, good enough to take over the points lead from Kania, who finished eighth. Third was Ryan Scott with last week?s winner Chris Ottaway fourth and Paul Norman fifth.

The Hunter Trucking Sportsman feature was paced by Wade Watson and Eric Ester for the start.  Only one lap was complete when Mike Murray got into the wall at the end the back chute, collecting 2009 point?s champion John Boardman.  Boardman was able to continue but Murray was towed back to the pits.  Watson led the field back to the green six-time winner Ben Burgess Jr right behind.  At the end of four laps, Burgess was on his way to win number seven.  At lap eight Eric Ester spun in turn two, bringing caution over the event and erasing Burgess?s quarter-lap lead.  Behind Burgess at the checkers was Boardman with Joey Buccola third, and Watson fourth. Ester recovered from his spin to finish fifth.

Aron Dascomb and Tim Thompson led the sixteen Mill Run Collision Street Stocks to Spanky Hall?s green flag with Thompson leading the first lap, then being supplanted at the front by Shaun Fawcett until Greg Fenno, last week?s winner, got by, only to see the pass negated when yellow was shown to the racers for a spin in turn four.  Two laps after green was again on the speedway, Fenno again made the pass, this time making it stick.  At lap nine, yellow was again shown and at this point the season point?s leader, Chris Withers, was running second, but with a flat right rear tire.  Withers soldiered on, never showing much of a handling issue, suffering through more caution periods.  At lap twelve Kevin Hill got sideways at the end of the back straight as Aron Dascomb was setting up to enter the turn.  Dascomb had no choice but to slam the Hill machine side for side, sending the 98 car of Hill into a three-quarter roll.  Withers used the red-flag period to change his tire, giving up the runner-up position to Tim Thompson.  Neither Dascomb nor Hill was injured in the wreck, but both were towed from the scene.  Withers restarted in ninth with four laps remaining.  Over the final four laps, Fenno was hounded by Rush Firestone with Firestone getting alongside at one point but Fenno was able to hold on to score his third win of the season, his second in a row.  Firestone was second and Withers was able to get back to third, maintaining his point?s lead.  Tim Thompson was fourth with Joe Rohrer fifth.

Josh Hebner took the lead from Richie Langer at lap three of the Summit Auto Auction Challengers feature and cruised to his fifth win of the season over Jamie Hebner, Langer, Andy Faulhaber, and Jeff Loomis.
