Eriez Speedway to have Autograph Night Sunday Hammett, PA (July 16, 2010) Eriez Speedway will be sponsored by WQLN Kids Club and feature the annual Autograph night for kids of all ages. For a time the front stretch will become a parking lot for racecars and fans will be allowed onto the track for autographs and fun with the drivers. All drivers in all classes are invited to participate and kids of all ages urged to bring programs, photos, and other memorabilia for autographing. Be prepared for lots of candy and goodie, too, as many drivers have handouts of treats for all. When feature race action lines up the attention will shift to finishing on top to gain positions in the year-long points chase. The Jay’s Auto Wrecking Super Late Models has a tight fight for the top spot with less than 100 points separating the first four spots. Bumpy Hedman won his first feature of the season last week in the special 29-lap Dick Litz Memorial and continues to lead the standings by a mere 13-points over Chris Hackett, also a winner on the season. Two-time winner Mike Knight rides third, only 46-points in arrears of Hackett. Fourth is Scott Johnson, only 18-points out of the top three and only 77 out of the lead. Johnson also has had a win this season. Dave Hess Jr commands the top of the Plyler Overhead Door E-Mod standings, with a 90-point lead over Mike Knight. Hess has just one win this season while Knight is winless thus far. Former champion Scott Gurdak is third 61 points in back of Knight. Gurdak has a feature win. The Route 8 Boardwalk Bar and Grill Limited Late Models are headed up at the moment by class rookie Steve “Kid” Kania with one win and 1264 points, 27 more than his closest competition, three-time winner Wade Slaney. 126-points behind Slaney is Chris Ottaway, who got his first win of the season July 4. Ben Burgess has dominated the Hunting Trucking Sportsman race this season, winning six of the seven races contested thus far in the season. 145-point back rides the only other winner of the season, John Boardman, the defending champion. 152-points behind Boardman is Joey Buccola in third. Chris Withers, former champion, heads up the Mill Run Collision Street Stocks with a 56-point lead over Tommy Fox, a lead that should grow this week, as Fox will not be in attendance this week due to disciplinary action. Greg Fenno is only 6 points behind Fox going into this week’s action. Fenno has two wins this year while Fox has one win. Withers has dominated in the win column with four on the season. The Hebner brothers have dominated the Summit Auto Auction Challengers with Josh having four wins to Jamie’s two, but trailing in the season standings by 95. Richie Langer is currently third, with a huge deficit of 541 points behind second. Eriez Speedway is located on Sampson Road, just off Lake Pleasant Road in the town of Hammet, PA, 3 miles south of Interstate 90. Take Route 8 South from Interstate 90 Exit 29 and follow the signs starting in Hammett. Admission for this special racing weekend is $13.00 for Adults, $10 for seniors, children 6 - 15 $6, under 6 free. Special events (Sprints and World of Outlaws Late Models) are more. |
