FORCE BECOMES 9th DIFFERENT FASTRAK WINNER AT DOG
HOLLOW
STRONGSTOWN, PA - Thunderstorms were forecast for
all areas around Dog Hollow Speedway and it rained in those areas,
but it never rained a drop at the speedway as Chris Force of Indiana
became the ninth different winner in the Zero Wrap Fastrak Late
Models. Adam Pletcher of Tire Hill was a new winner in the Modified
Four Cylinders.
Repeat winners on Nanty Glo Auto Parts night
included: Clate Copeman of Greensburg in the Townsend Gas and Oil
Super Late Models, Chris Schneider of Springdale in the Stoystown
Auto Wreckers Street Stocks, Justin Queen of Irvona in the Brush
Valley Tire Pure Stocks and Mike Phillipson of Ebensburg in the Four
Cylinders.
Jerry Redden and Clate Copeman held the field at
bay to start the Super Late Model feature. It was Copeman taking the
lead at the start and setting the pace with third place starter John
Britsky moving to second. The leaders were quickly joined by Sammy
Stile from fourth as they began to pull away from the field.
As they were running away Denton Boyer was trying
to maneuver around Billy Eash, but Eash wasn’t having any of that,
as he held Boyer off until lap five. Boyer then set his sights on
Stile, but the lead duo was having a battle of their own, with
Britsky trying to get past Copeman, but Copeman was determined to
get his fourth win of the season.
Meanwhile Boyer was still trying to get past
Stile for most of the race, as he was working on the inside, then
with just one lap to go, Boyer went to the outside of Stile and just
drove by him, then he started to reel in Britsky but he ran out of
time.
At the line it was Copeman getting his fourth win
over Britsky, Boyer, Stile, and Ron Delano Jr.
Britsky, Eash and Dan Swartzlander won the preliminaries.
“The track was just awesome,” Copeman said in
victory lane. “The car was awesome, it was just a fun night all
around.”
Shawn Shaltenbrand and Mike Laughard sat on the
front row of the Fastrak Late Model feature with Laughard taking the
lead with Chris Force a close second and Tim Snare in third. The
field was tight as Bryan Force moved into fourth and set up a four
car battle for the lead.
Force then went under Laughard off the fourth
turn to take the lead, with Laughard now in the sights of Snare, as
Snare took second on lap 9. The first caution flew on lap 11. The
race resumed with Force still leading with Snare second and Laughard
now third, ahead of Bryan Force and Joey Valenti, who started 11th.
As the race drew to a close C. Force was still leading and took his
first win of the season. Snare, B. Force, Ken Herman and Ron
Smithley rounded out the top five. Snare and B. Force won the heats.
“The car was set up just awesome,” Chris Force
said in victory lane. “It’s about time I win one of these things, I
think it’s been about a year since I won…up here.”
Chris Schneider and Alex Kirsch brought the
Street Stocks to the start with Schneider taking the lead with Mike
Valasek second and Kirsch third. Jim Boyer moved past Kirsch for
third on lap two and brought Josh Jacoby along for fourth. Jacoby
moved around Boyer on lap four and set his sights on Valasek. He
took second on lap five and chased Schneider for the next three laps
before Nick Goss came from 17th to second by lap nine.
Once he was second he pursued Schneider the rest of the way and only
finished second by half a car at the line.
Upon crossing the scales the first time,
Schneider was light, he reweighed and was ok. The top five were:
Schneider, Goss, Jacoby, Boyer and Ray Hickok. Heat wins went to
Schneider and Goss.
“I guess they thought I was a little light,”
Schneider said in victory lane. “I got a second chance to weight and
we were a little heavier the second time through though. A wins a
win and here I am.”
Justin Queen beat John Mazey off the line at the
start of the Pure Stock feature and led the event from start to
finish but not without a fight. First it was Mazey challenging the
leader, then on lap five it was Tim Laughard who took second and
tried to dethrone Queen, but Queen wasn’t about to get bumped from
the lead just yet, then Tom Wagner worked into second on lap 13 then
a lap later it was Jeremy Shaffer who was second but all efforts
failed and Queen took his second win of the season at the Hollow.
Shafher, Laughard, Mazey and Joey Petyak completed the top five.
Heat wins went to Shaffer and Mazey.
Chris Yoder and Lee Fitzpartick led the Four
Cylinder Sidewinders to the start and Yoder took the lead. He led
the 12 lap event from the start with Wes McKeel in second then Mike
Phillipson took second on lap eight. Phillipson hounded Yoder
through lap 11, then he made a last ditch effort for the lead and
took the win by half a car length at the line. The top five were:
Phillipson, Yoder, McKeel, Brent Sholtis and Ricky Myers. Heat wins
went to Yoder, Rick Lamer and Donny Lechak.
The Modified Four Cylinders presented enough cars
for two heats this week with Adam Pletcher leading the race from
green to checkered for his first win in the class since being forced
to move up two weeks ago. He never received a challenge and won
easily over Mark Maglet, Jon Lee, Tom Pavelko and Paul Little. Heat
wins went to Pletcher and Chris Hickok.
