$2122 Possible For Winner Of Brock’s Race
…ISKY Camfather Challenge Now At $700… St. Catharines, ON…Tomorrow (Sat July 17) Little Valley Speedway will host the 8th Annual Brock Young Memorial for the BRP CanAm Late Model Series. The Speedway has posted $1422 for the A-Main race winner. That is the traditional amount which is “code” for One Four Brock (his race car number was 22). Another $700 is available to the race winner if he accepts the ISKY Camfather Challenge. The cash and a beautiful trophy presented by the Young family will all be waiting for the winner of Brock’s Race. The driver who draws the #1 chip for the A-Main starting position will be offered the ISKY Camfather Challenge. The challenge is to give up the number one starting position, go the rear (starting position 24), and win the race. The ISKY bonus started at $300 for the tour opener at Little Valley Speedway on May 30. The bonus grows by $100 per event until the challenge is met. The Challenge has not been accepted let alone claimed in the four prior Series tour events to date. Winning a BRP CanAm Late Model Series event is tough. Winning from last is really tough. It has been done only once in the 87 BRP CanAm A-Mains that has been completed. That was accomplished by Doug Ricotta at Genesee Speedway in 2003. Brady Wonderling came from 21st to win at Black Rock two weeks ago, but 21st isn’t quite the same as 24th. Bruce Miller accepted the Challenge at Black Rock last year when it was worth $1000. Miller did not win the race and the money was added to the point fund. ISKY Racing Cams (www.IskyCams.com) is the world’s largest designer and manufacturer of racing camshafts and valve train components. Ed Iskendarian established ISKY Racing Cams in Gardena, CA after graduating from Los Angeles Polytechnic High School and serving in World War II. Initially ISKY catered primarily to drag racing engine builders now ISKY is recognized as a winner in drag, oval, and road racing competition. In the early 1960s a program with Florida drag racer Don Garlits established ISKY Cams as both national and international leader in the high performance camshafts and valve train business. While Garlits was breaking drag racing records with his famous Swamp Rat rail dragsters using ISKY products he became known as “Big Daddy” and Iskendarian became known as the “Camfather.” The Camfather still oversees the ISKY Racing Cams business with his sons, Ron and Richard, leading the day to day operations of design and manufacturing of the constantly changing high performance internal combustion automobile engine business.
