Jack Sodeman Jr Wins Auto Racers for Kids Charity Sprint Car Shootout at Eriez Speedway!  Jamie Hebner Wins Challenger Challenge!

Hammet, PA (July 22, 2010): Auto Racers for Kids held the second of four Sprint Car Shootouts at Eriez Speedway Thursday night with Jack Sodeman Jr. coming out the winner of the Bonnell Collision Sprint Car Shootout.  Along with the sprints, the local Super Challenger class held an event with Jamie Hebner coming out on top of the heap.  The charity operates from Erie, PA and donates all proceeds to local Kid’s charities.  Among the charities involved are the Children’s Miracle Network, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Sarah Reed Children’s Center, Butterflies for Kids, Newspapers in Education, Junior Achievement, and the Kiwanis.  29 sprint cars, both 360 and 410s, signed into the pits.  Several drivers from the World of Outlaws had indicated plans to attend but at the last minute, the sanctioning body would not permit their drivers to participate.

Andy McKisson and Ryan Smith brought the 24 Sprinters to the green flag with McKisson getting the drop on Smith at the green.  Bob Felmlee came around Smith on lap three to grab second.  At lap five the leaders caught lapped traffic and Felmlee managed to get by McKisson.  At lap twelve Felmlee, in heavy traffic, made contact with the lapped car of Nate Stein, spinning both, and bringing caution over the speedway.  For the restart it was McKisson back to the lead and Jack Sodeman Jr second.  Jared Zimbardi was third with Ryan Smith fourth. At lap 14 Smith slowed suddenly on the front straight and was clipped by Carl Bowser, with Smith scraping the wall, ending his night.  After green, Sodeman pulled alongside McKisson several times but the momentum of the high line kept McKisson in the lead at the line.  Using the “slide job” Sodeman was able to complete the pass at lap 20 and went on to the win over Zimbardi, who got by McKisson at lap 22.  Carl Bowser also got by McKisson on the final lap for third. McKisson wound up fourth with Cole Duncan fifth.

25 Super Challengers started their 10-lap feature with Jason Martin and Scott Dellahoy on the front row.  Dellahoy led the first lap, and then was passed by Greg Rockwell.   With only two laps remaining, Rockwell’s race came to an end as mechanical problems forced him to the infield, leaving Jamie Hebner the leader.  Hebner went on to the win with Dellahoy finishing second, and Tracy Paxton third.
