Mintz on a Mission: Fourth FAST Feature Win of 2009 Season

ATTICA, OH (7-24-09) by Bryan Autullo - FAST Public Relations

Craig Mintz has put together the perfect season so far in 2009 scoring his fourth Kistler Racing Products FAST Feature Win at Attica Raceway Park. The win was Mintz's 6th overall win of the season with two wins each at Skyline, Fremont, and Attica. Mintz capitalized on the luck of the redraw when he pulled the #1 pill to line up the A-main event. Mintz has been on top of his game this season, so knowing that he had to hold off several All Stars and a few former Outlaws to stay out in front didn't have him too worried.

On the initial start, Brandon Wimmer took the top spot from his starting spot on the outside of the front row, but a red flag for Chris Andrews' wild flip down the backstretch gave Mintz a second chance. Andrews received the "Hepfner Racing Products Tough Luck"

certificate for his destroyed race car. On the restart, Mintz got the advantage and never looked back. He was challenged several times throughout the 30 lapper by Wimmer who would get a nose under him in turn two, but by turn three Mintz was back in full control of the lead. Sam Hafertepe Jr., who pulled off the Outlaw tour and dropped by for a night of Ohio's Finest Friday Night Racing, challenged Wimmer the entire way as both were on Mintz's bumper.

"I saw him (Wimmer) under me a couple times and thought about going down there, but the curb around this place is like hitting a brick wall. And I tried to stay off of it and stay as fast as I could in one and two and hammer down in three and four," said Mintz.

Tim Shaffer, who started 11th, made a charge to the front of the pack and was knocking on Hafertepe's door but couldn't make the pass until Wimmer slid up in turn two knocking Hafertepe off the top of the race track. Wimmer continued on as Shaffer slipped by with Greg Wilson in tow. Hafertepe earned the "GME/Nields Cool Move of the Race" for his save and continuing on to finish 5th. Shaffer earned the "Zemco Headers Hard Charger" award for advancing 8 positions to finish 3rd.

Caleb Griffith also advanced 8 positions, but finished behind Shaffer.

"If you would have told me at the beginning of the season I would have six wins this season I would have told you you were crazy," said Mintz in Victory Lane. "I've never doubted these guys. Bobby's team (Bobby Sears) and our team have been clicking. They're really good guys. Bobby and Kellie stepped up and really helped us out. When we run the 20x it's just as fast. It's just a great thing we're running so well on these FAST nights...we've been lucky," added Mintz beside his Bobby's Truck and Auto Repair, Pumps Landscaping and Nursery, Erie Shore Propane, Real Geese Decoys sponsored sprint car.
