BRP CanAm Debut @ RWRP Rained Out

Elbridge, NY…Thursday July 2…The long awaited BRP CanAm Late Model Series debut at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park fell to Mother Nature.  The grand old lady threatened all day, but saved her worst for 5:00 when she let loose with a genuine gully washer on “the DIRTcar Fast Track.”

Cory Reed, the track manager, had the spacious facility prepped to the max for his inauguration as general manager of this jewel of the DIRTcar owned facilities. The giant parking lots and pit area grass had been not only mowed, but trimmed as well.  The track preparation team had used rain from both earlier in the week and early Thursday morning to help with what would have been a wicked fast track.  “I am really sorry, but this is just too much rain too late and the radar shows yellow (heavy rain) for the next hour.  There is just no way,” shared Reed from under the cover of the grandstand VIP suites.  “We not only had the BRP late models, a DIRTcar Sportsman Super DIRT Series program, and the 50,000 Watt Fireworks show planned.  At this time I do not believe we have room to reschedule this show.”

A stout field of BRP CanAm teams had already signed in and the draw procedure had started before the rain.  The only driver happy to learn of the rain out was Bob Buono.  Buono was in Texas with his daughter, Christina, who has recently returned to the States from a tour of duty with the US Navy in Iraq. Christina has been assigned to the US Navy Air Station in Corpus Christi.

The BRP CanAm Series teams now reload for weekly series racing at Black Rock Speedway (Friday July 3), Genesee Speedway (Saturday July 4), Little Valley Speedway (Friday July 3), and Woodhull Raceway (Saturday July 4).  The next tour event is the Seventh Annual Brock Young Memorial at Little Valley Speedway on Saturday July 18. After Brock’s race the Series travels to the Utica Rome Speedway Wednesday July 29 for a double header with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series.
