Championship Next Up For UFo Race Championship!
The UFo Race Championship presented by Comcast will make its only trip south of the border on Sunday, August 3 as the tour will invade the Tyler County Speedway for the 21st annual "Earl Hill Memorial Championship" race. The winner of the event will claim $4,000. This event honors West Virginia racing legend Earl Hill, who was a multi-time Super Late Model champion at Tyler County. They Tyler County Speedway is a favorite venue of both fans and drivers. This high-banked, high-speed, wide and racey ¼ mile carries the nickname of "The Bullring" and is famous for close, side-by-side action. Tyler County represents the southern-most limit of the UFo Race Championship presented by Comcast, with the track being located south of Middlebourne WV on SR 18, just a couple of hours south of the Pittsburgh area. The "Earl Hill Memorial Championship" will also unofficially open up the annual Tyler County Fair, which is slated to begin on August 4. The racing program will feature extended lap heat races, consolation(s) and the trademark "Area 51"-lap feature event for the UFo Super Late Models. The King of the Mountains Late Models, AMRA E-modifieds, Pure Stocks, Mod-Lites and Junkyard Warriors will fill out the night's activities. Gates are scheduled to open at 4:00 PM, with warm-ups at 6:00 and racing following. Adult grandstand admission is only $14, with pit passes at $30. Payout for the UFo Super Late Models for the "Earl Hill Memorial Championship" is 1st-$4,000 2nd-$1,700 3rd-$1,200 4th-$1,000 5th-$800 6th-$650 7th-$550 8th-$500 9th-$475 10th-$450 11th-$425 12th-$400 13th-$375 14th-$350 15th-$325 16th-$325 17th-$325 18th-$325 19th-$325 20th-$300 21st-$300 22nd-$300 23rd-$300 24th-$300. $100 tow money for any car that races and does not qualify for the feature. Super Late Model entry fee is $40, with no membership fees or tour license fees required. The starting grid for the "Area 51"-lap feature will consist of 22 cars qualified from the heats and consolation(s), plus 1 UFo provisional starter and 1 track provisional starter. The weight limit for open motor cars will be 2,250 after the race, with UFo spec motor cars weighing in at 2,200. The UFo Race Championship carries an open brand and compound tire rule. Currently, Jared Miley of South Park, PA holds a small 5 point lead over Alex Ferree from Saxonburg PA, with Keith Barbara of South Park, PA trailing Ferree by just 7 points. Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, PA and Shawn McGarvey of Coalport, PA round out the current top 5. Mike Johnson from Imperial, PA, Rodney Sweitzer of Stoystown, PA, Matt Dobnak from West Mifflin, PA, Herman Bertolini of Creighton, PA and Mel Minnick, Jr. from Uniontown PA round out the top 10. Racing action in the inuagural season of the UFo Race Championship presented by Comcast has been outstanding. Feature events have averaged 3.2 lead changes in each race, and the average feature winner's starting position is 8th on the grid.
