ULMS SUPER LATE MODELS and FALL
CLASSIC QUALIFIERS ON MCR THURSDAY NIGHT THUNDER
When McKean County Raceway gets back to action on
Thursday, July 31 it will be a night of qualifiers for
each class including the invading Northern Tier Inc.
United Late Model Series as the super late models invade the
MCR oval for the first time this year for the 4th annual
Stephanie Eckl Memorial.
The ULMS late models will run a 30 lap, $3000 to win
event in memory of Stephanie Eckl. Over two thousand dollars have been
raised by the Eckl family for the event. Defending race winner, Todd
Andrews is the current ULMS point leader and he will no doubt be back to
defend his Eckl Memorial title. Rob Blair won this event in 2006. Not
only will the Eckl Memorial winner receive the three grand first place
prize, but will also be a guaranteed starter for the 'Craig Norton
Memorial' Late Model Reunion on August 2nd and also for the 3rd
annual Priority Care RaceFAN 50.
Late model fans can expect to see other regional stars such as Dave Hess
Jr., Mike Knight, Bob Close, Dick Barton, David Scott, Ron Davies, Dutch
Davies and other dirt late model teams from New York, Pennsylvania and
Canada.
In addition, the FASTRAK Late Models, Super Stocks, E-Mods, Mini Stocks,
Street Stocks and Pure Stocks will all compete on Thursday. MCR
officials are committed to making the ULMS Late Models the first feature
of the evening.
The Maynards Electric FASTRAK Late Models,
Hallock Enterprises Mini Stocks and KZ 102
Pure Stocks will race for normal MCR payout. The
John's Collision E-Mods and NE Micro
Street Stocks will NOT be a Border Skirmish Race,
however each winner will be a guaranteed starter for their Fall
Classic event in late September. The Yum Yums Super
Stocks will also be in action and the winner will be a
guaranteed starter for the BRP CanAm Series event during the annual
McKean County Fair race on Wednesday, August 13. Regular MCR points
and pay will be on the line.
The points battle are still very close and with this event and the
season ending championship on August 23, anything can happen. Max Blair
currently has a comfortable twenty point leader over defending Maynards
Electric FASTRAK Late Model Champion, John Lacki. The third generation
driver from Titusville, PA has two wins on the year at MCR and is coming
off a win last Saturday night at MCR. Kyle Drum and Mike Wonderling sit
only seven points back behind Lacki. Smethport's, Steve Dixon has a
twelve point lead over Coudersport's Dan Cobb in the Yum Yums Super
Stock division. Both racers have one win this year and with the final
two events still pending, this battle is at the boiling point.
Randy Hall has a commanding nineteen point lead over Mr. Jewett's, Ryan
Bright. Hall nineteen point lead was helped by his three wins on the
season. Travis Asel of Kane sits two points behind Bright in the John's
Collision Emod division. All three racers have at least one win on the
season. Adam Sixt has been the class of the field in the NE Micro Street
Stock division. His four wins have given him a very comfortable twenty
point lead over defending champion, Chris Austin. Five points only
separate Rich Hemphill and Brad Bigley for third. The Hallock
Enterprises Mini Stocks sees Levi Watson in a very comfortable position.
The Franklinville NY driver has a 17 point lead over James Galloway.
Watson's three wins has helped pad that lead. Steve Mowery sits in
third, just three points behind Galloway. The KZ102 Pure Stocks has Curt
Pastorious sitting seven points ahead of Mark Schweickert. Scott Derock
and Brad Curran sit tied for third sum thirteen points behind Pastorius.
The battle for fifth is very close between the cars of Dave Derock,
