Gas City I69 Speedway has several double-pay nights each summer and Raceway Magazine made it to one of them for the wingless sprint cars and it was a superb racing event with 48 of the magnificent sprinters contesting for the $2800 winner's purse over the 25 lap feature.  Below are photos of several of the cars, narrowed down to 22 starters through 6 heats and 2 B-Mains.

Jon Stanbrough, 4-time King of Indiana Sprint Series Champion (2003-06-07-08), started in 19th due to making the field by winning the first B-Main, fought his way to sixth in the final rundown...Tim Baker Photo

 

Ron Dennis went for a wild ride in the first B-Main, starting to flip just after taking the green after a restart.  He got as high as the tops of the light poles and was caught on re-entry to the speedway by Tim Baker.
